A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Three new paintings all 15 cm x 15 cm and all on show at The Highgate Gallery in London. There will also be some of my paintings at The Hatch Gallery in Christchurch Dorset over the festive period. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

This Situation

Another damp and dismal Monday morning to start October. Really enjoyed being part of the Buy Art Fair in Manchester this weekend, with paintings going off to fairs and exhibitions I don't always get the opportunity to see them displayed and have a mooch about. Interesting mix of work at the two shows as well. Quality of some stuff in the Buy a bit low but prices seemed to be about right. Didn't really get the Contemporary, would be much better if the stands of the Buy Art side were curated and the Contemporary stands were mixed among them. Still its that same old problem of funding and comerciallity, shouldn't the Arts Council be supporting viable creative buisnesses? Still not sure where my paintings sit in all of this.  Collecting another failed entry into an open exhibition, the Discerning Eye this time. Can't decide if my energies in that direction are being well used. Must get over to the Liverpool Biennial and see what beat me into the John Moores.

National Open Art Competition

This painting is through to the second judging stage of the National Open. It will be flying off to goodwood in the next couple of weeks to be viewed in the flesh. Hope it makes the exhibition.

Bird Table

A new exhibition of a mix of old and new work of birds and food paintings on display at the Lowry Hotel in Salford from tomorrow, 21/06/2012 for six weeks. A last minute set up so watch this space for a preview evening in a couple of weeks time.

Touched By Wings

My entry into the Threadneedle exhibition has made it through the first stage of selection and now needs to head of to the Mall Galleries for viewing. Very excited but won't choose a tie yet for the celebration dinner. Still there were four thousand entries so I'm feeling rather pleased with myself. Will find out on 12th June if it makes it into the exhibition.

Touched by Wings

Finally got round to entering the Threadneedle exhibition with this painting, finished about twenty minutes ago.

New Work April 2012

Here are four new paintings, three completely new and the Bluetits reworked. Just to show that the Easter holidays have not just been about eating. Really like the Coal Tit and the Great Tit think that they are working really well.

Warblerings

Made this little painting after a Wood Warbler crashed into the window and expired. Thought the nice people at JM2012 might like it. They didn't. Oh well there is always 2014.

New painting just completed. Has been hanging around on the studio floor for a while. Not sure about it yet. Working title.
